A Flying Visit

I took a 'flying visit' to Flying Burrito on Middlesex Street, E1 today.
Flying Burrito are the latest entrant to the London burrito scene having only opened up very recently. They describe themselves rather unusually and intriguingly as "a takeaway shop in London peddling a South African and Ukranian take on a Californian interpretation of Mexican street food". That's different to say the least!
This new place is situated on Middlesex Street and is just down the road from Poncho No.8 which is apparently getting pretty busy these days - particularly at lunchtimes. Flying Burrito may be able to catch some of the Poncho overspill.
I first came across Flying Burrito when I happened across their Twitter page. They were initially open during short lunchtimes only 12pm - 2pm however they have recently been trialling extended opening hours until 7pm. I took advantage of these extended hours to check them out during an extended 'dinner break' (don't ask!) from work.
First impressions of Flying Burrito are mixed. It is located in a fairly low end section of the Spitalfields (or is it Moorgate) area however the restaurant itself is quite pleasant. I like that it has the feel of a small independent store. Rather interestingly the vegetarian menu option contains mole.
I went for my (most usual) chicken burrito and what I ended up with was probably the largest burrito that I've ever been served outside of California! You'd never guess that from my poor quality photo below but you'll just have to believe me.
It would have been nice to have eaten in but as I was in a bit of a rush - I took it to go...

Flying Burrito - Good Burrito / Bad Picture!
Flying Burrito is a great little place and the team behind it seem really enthusiastic. It's a really good start to a brand new venture. My recommendation to all you burrito aficionados: Give them a try. Tell them what you think. Help them improve!
I'll give Flying Burrito an initial 7/10. That's a very high first time rating and only because I'm going to excuse the missing guacamole! It was late in the day ... and I'm felling generous! A great start.
