Mas Burritos arrived seemingly out of nowhere, with two store openings in London during the summer. These are at Gray's Inn Road and St Martins Lane.

Both places are quite small - the St Martins Lane place is actually tiny - and follow a production line format. Despite what I read on their website, the Gray's Inn Road store doesn't seem to open on Saturdays, or for that matter Sundays. Frustrating when I turned up on a Saturday wanting to give it a try!

I have checked out both stores in the past couple months, trying both the chicken tinga and grilled chicken.

The first impressions at Gray's inn Road were good. The place is nicely decorated with a clear menu and I found the staff to be exceptionally friendly and motivated. As a sat down to eat my burrito I thought it was ok. The burrito was well constructed and the salsa was heading towards pretty good. There is definitely room for improvement though to get the overall flavour just right.

Overall rating for the chicken tinga burrito at Gray's Inn Road - 6/10

My second visit was to to St Martins Lane. This is a tiny little place just around the corner from the new Benito's Hat. Both places opened at around the same time. This time I went for the grilled chicken with the usual. Sitting down at one of the two available tables I was soon disappointed. This burrito simply wasn't as good as the one from the other store. This time the burrito was poorly constructed and tasted rather bland. Room for a great deal of improvement here!

Overall rating for grilled chicken burrito at St Martins Lane -  4/10

In summary a bit of a mixed bag. So far it seems that Mas Burritos is a middle of the road addition to the London burrito restaurant scene. As a result it's difficult to form an opinion either way, but I will pop back sometime to update.
